Great Products.
Bad Packaging.

Sometimes there are products that work great, but their packaging really lets them down.

Anything in a Jar

I don’t love any product that requires me to dip my finger into it; especially since Covid, it just feels very irksome.

I'm a little less worried about face masks because I have a specific brush, however for those without a dedicated brush, I'd be weary of the spatulas: while a thoughtful inclusion, I can bet on losing it within a week (but maybe that's just me).

The exception to this is the new Fenty Overnight Recovery Creme since the packaging has a specific compartment for the spatula.

 Colourpop Hyaluronic Concealer

Is it just me?

I use this concealer almost every day; the product is amazing and has become such a staple in my routine. The problem I have with the packaging is that no matter how careful I am, the rim of the closure gets covered in the product.

I usually don’t travel with this concealer because of that. It’s an explosion ready to happen at any moment.

Fenty Beauty Lip Stunna

I live in NYC which means I don’t have all that much space.

This is such an amazing product and one of the few matte liquid lips that work for my overbite, but... the shape of the packaging makes it hard to put it with my other lip products because it takes up so much space. The doe-foot is great, but I keep my quantity limited since it’s so bulky.

If you have the space to display these beauties, go for it. They are truly beautiful.

Glossier Pink Pouches

I have approximately... a billion of these pouches.

I’m very happy that they now have the option to not receive them when you order online. Don’t get me wrong, these work in a pinch, but they don’t have the longest shelf-life. I think 90% of my pouches have either a tear in them or straight up don’t zipper properly anymore.

Glossier recently came out with their own makeup bag (which is of course sold out). I’m honestly surprised they didn’t come out with one sooner, but it looks semi-promising. The design seems decent, but I don’t love the dimensional graphics; it just seems trendy and doesn’t seem like it will age well.

Also if you’re wondering, the beautiful pup’s name is Dante.

Not ‘I’m late and in a rush’ makeup friendly.

Again, this is one of my staple products. I might be the only one with this issue, but every time I am done with this product I manage to dent it. Since the shape is different from most stick foundations, I now have to wind down the product so that I don’t damage it. Granted, yes.. not hard, but I’m always rushing out the door so those precious seconds mean a lot.

This also applies to their highlight.

Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint

I mean I’m still going to use this.

I use this product every day in the summer. It makes me feel protected from the sun and is low coverage enough that my freckles peek through. The problem I have with this product is that it feels semi germ prone. Since the roller ball moves, it picks up bacteria from your skin and festers behind the scene. I would so much rather the ball stay put.

This lip treatment has changed my relationship with lip balm for the better.

I hate talking about this product because it’s my hidden gem. I no longer feel the need to have some kind of lip product with me at all times. My lips feel healthy for the first time in my life and that is after a year of wearing a mask non-stop.

The problem though… you can’t get every last drop of the product. Since the bottle is in a tear-drop shape, there is product left in the corners. I have tried storing it upside down and on its side, but there is always some product left over. As someone who already spends too much on beauty and skincare, I would like to get every last bit of the product I’m paying for.
