According to someone with dry skin.

 It took me a few years to figure out my skin and sometimes I still question my conclusion.

After spending a good amount of time trying to figure out which foundation would cover up my face the best I realized I should focus a little bit more on the skin underneath.

I had a history of breakouts on my chin and forehead and always assumed it was due to excess oils. Now I realize that my diet was the biggest contributing factor along with stress. My diet is absolutely awful and I’m definitely a stress-eating. In those situations, I get stressed, eat, break out and then get stressed about those breakouts. It is a cycle I have gone through far too often.

How I’ve changed this? Drink as much water as possible. Although my diet could still be better, I have noticed that when I consume more water it helps my skin fight back. Also, it helps with my dry skin as well.

Back to the dry skin. When I say my skin is dry... I really mean it. I cannot apply foundation or concealer without a plentitude of moisturizer; otherwise, it will not go on evenly. Areas will become a little patchy throughout the day, especially around the nose area.

I’ve also had moments where I was crying as I went to sleep (as one does) and my outer eye needed an entire bottle of moisturizer to recover. Now I try to do all my crying vertically.

Things I’ve Learned:

  • Never forget to moisturize. Day and night.

  • Avoid foaming cleansers; they at least cause my skin to feel drier.

  • Use an overnight mask a few times a week.

  • Don’t over-exfoliate! Let your skin do its thing.

  • Sunscreen absolutely every day.

  • Moisturize your face, neck, and hands.
